I'm running another blog. Don't look at me like that. In the last month I've taken on a new endeavor... Company Member at Brelby Theatre Co.!!! It was announced on their blog last week and my fellow Company Member, April , and I are co-managing the blog and getting it ready to get fabulous!! It was completely unexpected that Shelby and Brian would ask me. I wrote a bit here about how bizarre it is that I even do theatre now, but to be invited into the group of people who help keep the theatre doing things, like blogging and fundraising, and being part of their community, so much that goes into running a small business, is insane! It's nuts. I'm inexplicably excited about this year. I've been actively working as a Company Member since March 15th and it has been the busiest, most fun I've had doing a job! But what does that mean for this blog? Can I write two blogs at once? I feel like I barely write this one so... What's going to change? Hon...

Is It Bad If I Say, 'No?'

Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting is not a feminist .* She's another in a long list of celebrities who was asked in 2014, the year of the feminist, if she is a feminist. And turns out, she's not. She's not the only one, but unfortunately her interview is on my mind. When asked, "are you a feminist?" she replied saying, "is it bad if I say, 'no?'" I'd like to say that it's ok, live and let live. But you know what? It's not ok. And NOT because people aren't entitled to their own opinions or allowed to refuse to label themselves. I find her reasons for not being a feminist unacceptable and I'd like to disagree and discuss. So, here we go. "It's not really something I think about."  It is not ok to say that it's not something you think about. What kind of life have you lead, I wonder, to never ever, not once, consider what it means to be a woman. What it means to be a working woman, a female student, a woman of a certain ...

the totally doable year long bucket list

I really hate change. Not actively. It's the one thing that I quietly rebel against while raising holy hell about how wrong it is to put pineapple on pizza. I have daily rituals, like so many others: I put on my clothes in the same order, fix my coffee the same way, listen to one song for weeks on end until I'm sick of it and never want to hear it again. It's comforting to know that some things will always be the same. That no matter how calm or crazy things are, I will always forget to put on deodorant and have to do it after I'm fully dressed. As it's the beginning of a New Year, we should have just reflected on last years adventures and should be actively trying to anticipate what's about to happen to us. One of my favorite things that I chose to do last year was my summer bucket list . I loved it! I roped a few friends into doing some of the things and it was just super fun, and if you read my 2014 wrap up, you'll know I had the inspired idea to do a y...

Here's to 2014

Image
I did not see 2014 coming. At all. I was in a bad place at the end of 2013, and then 2014 galloped in and swept me off my feet. It will go down in history as the year I came back to life. I'll never be able to pinpoint what made me say "yes" to this year but it was as simple as going somewhere new, being around new people, letting that change the way I did other things and parts of me I thought I'd never see again, started coming back.  It feels weird. But I might get used to it.   I never thought I did New Year's Resolutions, but I guess I do. Or did. I know a few years ago my resolution was to do things that scare me. Any things. So I went to New York, moved to a new state, cut all my hair off. It was a pretty intense year. I don't remember making one this year, or last year, or for a few years. I did a "totally doable"  bucket list  this summer though (#bossassbitch), and it was crazy fun! Things like "Eat a whole watermelon," t...

#summerbucketlist #bossassbitch

I read an article at the beginning of the summer about a bucket list single girls could totally do. The author's reasoning for creating the list (because she's a puppy and needs to be with other people constantly) were not relatable. However, it looked like so much fun. And so I set out the accomplish a couple of things on the bucket list and created my own along the way. The list isn't epic. Nowhere on it is things like jump off a mountain (not on my lifetime bucket list) or live in London for a year (definitely on my lifetime bucket list), but rather was comprised of simple things. Simple, everyday, summery things that I could do. Because, now is my time and I wanted a list of things I could see the benefits from immediately. So I did. I didn't do all of them, but a lot. The point was never to do the whole list. I wanted to do something different and make it a summer to remember. Little did I know that a ton of other things would definitely add to that, but I w...
