Making Whoopsadoos Confessions.

I don't cook a lot. I know how to make basic things, eggs, I can cook meat even though I don't eat it; but I never had time when I first moved out on my own because I was in grad school. I lived on PB&J and soup. But sometime last year, I figured out how to make sauce. Like really good pasta sauces and now I consider myself a great cook. I figured out how to do one thing and am suddenly genius in the kitchen! I was always a good baker. Baking has always made sense to me, probably because I have a deep emotional connection with cupcakes. I make incredible cheesecakes, I'm trying really hard to step up my cake game and am trying fancy frosting techniques, I make caramel and toffee from scratch! Once, I made Seven Layer cookies that an Italian family from New Jersey loved! Even so, some things baking just elude me. I cannot for the life of me make a meringue of any kind! I'm terrified to even attempt macarons, but I did try to make something funny for my birthday ...

Confessing In Style

A friend of mine wore a pair of sunglasses where the lenses were in the shape of a star or something like that, and someone told her she couldn't pull them off, which was a) mean, no one wants your unsolicited opinion, and 2) not true, she can totally rock those! And she said that I wear heart shaped sunglasses, and they supposedly said, "that's because Megan has style." Confession: I have no idea if I dress my age. I was raised by a tomboy Mother who is naturally beautiful. She taught me the basics and I've figured out the rest on my own through experimentation (not always successful...sigh...) I love doing my hair, crazy makeup, lots of lipstick, high heels, accessories, and most of it is probably not age appropriate. When do you stop wearing big dangly earrings? When are you supposed to keep your hair short? I already wear smokey eyes during the day--yesterday I was trying out the makeup for a show I'm working on and walked around life with electric blu...

Confession in a Vacuum.

Everyone talks about words that give them the creeps, and I can never think of any answer to that question. I'm sure there are some, but they just aren't sitting on the surface. BUT, there is a sound. A sound that I totally hate. A sound that makes me lose focus and basically go dead in the brain for the entire time it's on. Confession: I hate the sound of the vacuum cleaner. I need to put my headphones on and listen to really loud music whenever I, or anyone around me, vacuums. My sister will harmonize with the buzzy sound which makes it so much worse, if you can believe that. The sound of the vacuum, I don't know if it's the pitch or the vibration (I feel it vibrate in my ears!), but it gets inside my head and makes me go crazy. I imagine it to be the sound you hear as you use your bare hands to murder someone. Divulge! *  What sounds do you hate?! Do they make you want to lash out irrationally or tear your feet off so you can stuff them in your ears?! Jus...

Sharkfession

I'm terrified of sharks, which is a real thing to be afraid of. However, in my case, it's probably unwarranted, and by probably I mean, it's completely unwarranted. I wish I knew how and when it started; I feel like it was one of two things. Either going to see educational IMAX movies  or trying to watch Jaws when I was 13. I'd never seen a shark in real life until we went to Sea World and I was forced to walk through that horrible shark tunnel that they have which is enough to scare the crap out of anyone. Seriously? Whose idea was that? Because I also saw Free Willy  so I know how thin your glass is Sea World. But I've never been out in the ocean and had a near miss with a shark. I've never even seen one from the deck of a boat. I don't live near any bodies of water. I've lived my entire life, more or less, in the center of two different countries. And yet. Not only do I have a fear of sharks, I have a totally irrational fear of sharks. Confessio...

I've Got Another(Another) Confession to Make...

This little confession section of mine has taken off! It's been one month since I started posting these and I did not expect people to take to it like this. I know everyone has weird thoughts, but I didn't expect my friends to look forward to "Confession Tuesday" or to ask me in a covert way, "so what's the confession topic going to be this week?" while I'm trying to work. I seriously thought no one would even read it. But you did! And do! You are! So in honor of that first post , I'll do a part 2 of that topic. Confession: I have really weird thoughts. I'm afraid of leaving someone (anyone) without resolving a fight because I'm convinced they'll die before I see them again. I'm afraid our last memories of each other will be awful. I'm not perfect, but I try very hard to only say the things I mean. I try to leave every person like I'll never see them again. I'm wicked honest, but I try to say productive thing...

Confession Challenge: Nicknames

I hadn't planned on making Tuesday "confession" day. But it happened that way for two weeks in a row and now people can't live without it. And by people, I mean Devon.  And by live without, I mean he may actually riot. He's a new friend, I'm not really sure what he's about.  I just posted, literally almost two hours ago, but it wasn't a traditional confession and he got on Facebook demanding a confession and went as far as to challenge me, knowing full well I couldn't resist. So. The challenge extended is thus: "Awkward nicknames parents or friends or other had for you." Challenge accepted. Confession: I have no nicknames. When I was born my Dad called me Peanut and that lasted while I was Peanut-sized, but he never called me that growing up. I was Megan. I am Megan. That's it. And it's always struck me as strange because my entire life was filled with stories of people my Mom and her siblings grew up with. G...
